Here Begins "The Werst Blog Evar!"
#17, January 29, 2015
Okay, I admit it. I’ve tried for more than a year, and the results are painfully obvious.
I suck at blogging.
Go ahead, take a look at my blog archive (the big button on the left). You will see that I can write a blog. Sure I can, I’m a writer, for Pete’s sake! I just can’t seem to be consistent, which is pretty funny considering I’ve made my writing career by writing to deadlines. Somehow, though, blogging is different.
And it’s not that I don’t have anything to say. Good grief, I have tons to say! I’ve been writing professionally for a long time! But again, I just can’t seem to keep the flow consistent.
Dear oh dear, what to do, what to do.... Well, why don’t I try this? I’ll blog when I can.
“But you can’t do that!” I hear you say. “A blog has to come out regularly. How else will people know when to visit it?”
Excellent point. And my reply is, I’ll blog when I can. That means that when I have something to say, I’ll let everybody know via Twitter, Facebook and other social media. OR you can just visit my site every week or so to see if anything new has been added.
“But you can’t do that!” I hear you say. “Blogs are regular, like newspaper columns! You can’t just decide to do yours differently!”
Says who? The Blog Police? Doggone it, I’ve been working my wubbies off building my soon-to-be Weiss Writing Empire (heh). Slowly but surely I’m worming my little wormy way into social media and advertising and all that stuff that self-published writers must do to sell their books. And lemme tell ya, if you don't already know — it’s hard work, and it takes time, and it’s messing up my writing schedule. You know, that schedule during which time I actually write my books? If I can’t write my books, the rest of this nonsense is meaningless, no?
So. Once again — I’ll blog when I can.
“But you can’t…” I hear you say, and then you stop. “Well… I guess that might work. Maybe.”
Aw, sure it will. Maybe. How about this? I’ll give it a try, so why don’t you give it a try with me? Geez Louise, the entire publishing industry is changing around us! Writing itself is changing! Why can’t blogging change?
Let me start that change! Let me lead the way for all bloggers! I shall be “The Girl Who Blogged… When She Could.”
So, uh, check back every now and then, ‘kay? God only knows what I’ll do from here...
